Props
This is a list of props I am thinking of using for my project, some may change but at this present time these are the ideas I have.
White Rustic Leaf bowl
I have this bowl at home that we just use to put pinecones in, however I think it's a really pretty and rustic piece to use for one of my shots, I am thinking of putting the Linzer cookies in it, as these will be flowers and I think its a nice idea that the bowl is a leaf shape, so I think they would work quite nicely together. It goes really well with the sort of rustic, clean style I want for this shoot and I have always loved this item in our home.
Loaf Pan
I have a fluted loaf pan that is quite stylish and unique. I was thinking of putting the new york style cookies in this and taking a photograph from above. I have seen this type of thing done with various other things like donuts, where they use linens or baking paper in the dish too for texture. Because this dish has a really nice pattern in the middle I think this would be a really good opportunity to use it in my shoot.
Natural Wood Log Slice
This natural log slice would work really well for my floral cake, to go hand in hand with the real edible flowers that I am using in the design. Combining natural elements in the overall scene would work quite nicely and also keeping in the overall theme and vibe of the rest of the book. I have had this log slice for just over a year now and I really love it but haven't had many opportunities to use it and this will be a great way to display it.
Cake Stands
I have a white and a wooden cake stand I can use for the other two cakes I am going to be making. When cakes are placed on the wooden one it gives a really nice effect and i am thinking of wrapping some material around the bottom to add some more texture to the overall image.
Small bowls / Jugs
I have a few small bowls that could look good filled with ingredients used to make/decorate some of the food. The stoneware is really nice and goes with most plates so might be a nice feature in some of the photographs. They are from the same shop as my loaf pan and also match to that so they might be a nice pairing.
Side Plates
For the cheesecakes i am thinking of using these white side plates. As the cheesecakes will be a blue colour I think a neutral colour like white is the best option for a plate. They have a really nice outer edge which I think adds a bit more interest to them without a worry that it will distract from the food.
As well as all of these specific props I am also going to be using cooling racks, baking paper, some old baking pans and materials I have as some elements to other shots I will be taking. These are more simplistic everyday items to use that still look really effective and also prevent me from buying loads of new items when beautiful images can be created with the simplest things.
